[Problem] To provide: a dispersion that can impart excellent flame resistance even when the amount of deposit is small; and a flame-resistant coating using the dispersion. [Solution] This problem is solved by a dispersion including particles of a hydrotalcite-like compound containing a sulfur compound or a phosphorus compound. The average particle size of the particles is preferably in the range of 10 to 2500 nm. In addition, the hydrotalcite-like compound containing the sulfur compound or phosphorus compound is represented by the general formula [M 2+ n 1-x M 3+ n x (OH) 2 ][A n- n x/n ·mH 2 O] wherein, preferably, the host elements M 2+ and M 3+ are Mg and Al or Zn and Al, respectively, and the interlayer anion A n- n x/n is SO 3 NH 2 n - , S 2 O 8 n 2- , SO 3 CF 3 n - , PO 4 n 3- , or P 2 O 7 n 4- . The flame-resistant coating is formed by coating the dispersion. |
