abstract Embodiments disclosed herein include a substance that sets in a relatively short time for use in general dentistry and in endodontics to replace natural tooth material. The substance can include a mix of untreated mineral trioxide aggregate and anhydrous high- shear homogenized mineral trioxide aggregate. In some embodiments, the substance includes untreated mineral trioxide aggregate, anhydrous high-shear homogenized mineral trioxide aggregate, and water. A method of making a substance that sets in a relatively short time for use in general dentistry and in endodontics to replace natural tooth material can include homogenizing by high-shear and impact impingement of particles. Embodiments disclosed herein include methods for using a homogenized fast set mineral trioxide aggregate mix in general dentistry and in endodontics to replace natural tooth material.
