[Problem] To provide a catalyst and method for purifying combustion exhaust gas that are capable of efficiently removing nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas in a comparatively low-temperature region, and reducing the amount of a reducing agent to a greater extent than achieved in the past, the gas being discharged from an internal-combustion engine such as a marine diesel engine. [Solution] A catalyst used in a method for purifying a combustion exhaust gas in which contact is brought about with a combustion exhaust gas to which an alcohol has been added as a reducing agent, and the nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas are removed, is configured such that at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Ag (silver), Bi (bismuth), and Pb (lead) is supported on a zeolite-containing catalyst carrier. The zeolite is preferably MFI- or FER-type zeolite. |
