abstract A method for determining at least one morphological characteristic of a solid cellular material comprising cells of average size (ะค) delimited by bridges of average diameter (d s ), said cells having an opening of average diameter (a), by measuring the transmission (Tr) of a light beam through a sample of said solid cellular material of given thickness (e), which involves: a. emitting an incident light beam of initial intensity (I0) that is sent through said sample in the thickness direction (e) of same; b. measuring, by means of a detection cell, the light intensity (I) of the light beam having passed through said sample; c. calculating at least one morphological characteristic selected from the group formed by the average size of the cells, the average diameter of the cells, and the average diameter of the bridges of said sample, by associating the measurements of light transmission Tr, where Tr=I/I0, and the thickness (e) of said sample, with a previously defined constant linked to the chemical nature of the material.
