The present invention relates to a multi-layer membrane construction for the separation of blood cells and plasma comprising: a) at least one layer comprising a hydrophilic nanoweb made of polymeric nanofibers, wherein the nanoweb mean flow pore size is in the range from 1 μm to 5 μm, wherein the nanoweb has a basis weight in the range from 1 to 3 g/m 2 and a porosity in the range from 60 to 95%, and wherein the nanofibers have a number average diameter in the range from 200 to 500 nm; b) at least one support layer; c) at least one intermediate layer between the nanoweb and the support layer; characterized in that the polymeric nanofibers of the nanoweb comprise polyamide (PA) and polyethyleneoxide (PEO) in a weight ratio (w/w) in the range from 10/1 to 1/1 and the at least one intermediate layer comprises PEO. Further, the present invention relates to a method for fabricating said membrane. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a method for separating blood cells and plasma and to a filter comprising the membrane construction. |
