abstract |
Provided is a composition for an anisotropic dye film, said composition being useful in forming an anisotropic dye film which exhibits a high dichroic ratio and a high transmittance over the whole visible light region. A composition which is to be used in forming an anisotropic dye film by a wet film-forming method and which contains at least two disazo dyes and a solvent, characterized in that: the disazo dyes are a disazo dye (1), the free acid form of which is represented by general formula (I), and a disazo dye (2), the free acid form of which is represented by general formula (II); a 10mass ppm aqueous solution of the disazo dye (1) exhibits a maximum absorption in a wavelength region of 550 to 640nm; a 10mass ppm aqueous solution of the disazo dye (2) exhibits a maximum absorption in a wavelength region which is 10nm to 100nm shorter than the wavelength of maximum absorption of the 10mass ppm aqueous solution of the disazo dye (1); and the concentrations of the disazo dyes (1) and (2) in the composition are 3mass% or more and 40mass% or less respectively. |
