The present invention relates to a method for the production of adipic acid or at least a resultant product thereof. According to said method, muconic acid is hydrogenated with hydrogen in a reaction zone in the presence of at least one transition metal catalyst (K) and a water-containing liquid (A), the muconic acid being at least partially insoluble in the liquid (A) under the hydrogenation conditions. |
