A composition for administration to a subject according to a dosing regimen, the composition containing a carrier for drug delivery, wherein the dosing regimen includes the administration of the composition to a subject who has been made to fast or in whom hypoglycemia has been induced and the induction of a rise in blood sugar levels in the subject, and the outer surface of the carrier in the composition is modified by a GLUT1 ligand.
