abstract |
Provided is a liquid crystal aligning agent for obtaining a liquid crystal alignment film which has good adhesion to a seal and good afterimage characteristics, while having excellent removability of a decomposition product that is generated after ultraviolet light irradiation. A liquid crystal aligning agent which contains at least one polymer that is selected from the group consisting of polyimide precursors having a structural unit represented by formula (1) and a structural unit represented by formula (2) and polymers obtained by imidizing the polyimide precursors. In the formulae, each of X1 and X2 represents a tetravalent organic group; each of Y1 and Y2 represents a divalent organic group; and each of R1 and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms. |
