Provided is a liquid crystal aligning agent for obtaining a liquid crystal alignment film which exhibits excellent adhesion to a sealing agent and excellent liquid crystal aligning properties.nA liquid crystal aligning agent which contains at least one polymer that is selected from the group consisting of polyimide precursors having a structural unit represented by formula (1) and a structural unit represented by formula (3) and polymers obtained by imidizing the polyimide precursors. In the formulae, each of X 1 and X 2 represents a tetravalent organic group; Y 1 represents a divalent organic group having a thermally cleavable group; Y 2 represents a divalent organic group; each of R 1 and R 2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms; and each of Z 1 and Z 2 represents a hydrogen atom, an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1-10 carbon atoms, an optionally substituted alkenyl group having 2-10 carbon atoms or an optionally substituted alkynyl group having 2-10 carbon atoms.) |
