The present invention relates to a positive-electrode material for a lithium-ion battery comprising an over-lithiated layered lithium metal composite oxide. The present invention enables improved volumetric energy density as an electrode, and demonstrates excellent rate performance. A method for manufacturing an over-lithiated layered lithium metal composite oxide represented by general formula Li 1+x M 1-x O 2 (where, x is between 0.10 and 0.33 inclusive, and M includes Mn and also includes at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Al, Mg, Ti, Fe, and Nb), said method comprising: a step for obtaining an over-lithiated layered lithium metal composite oxide by mixing and firing a lithium compound, and a lithium metal composite oxide represented by general formula Li 1+x M 1-x O 2 (where, x is between -0.15 and 0.15 inclusive, and M includes Mn and also includes at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Al, Mg, Ti, Fe, and Nb). |
