abstract Disclosed are an adjustment device for the verticality of a fast axis of a compound wave plate and an adjustment method adopting this device. The adjustment device comprises a polarized light source (1) and a feedback control system (6). Parallel polarized light emitted from the polarized light source (1) successively passes through a first rotary table (2), a second rotary table (3), a polarization analyzer (4) and a photodetector (5) which are arranged on the same transmission shaft. The first rotary table (2) is connected to a first electric motor (7), and the second rotary table (3) is connected to a second electric motor (8). The feedback control system (6) is connected to the photodetector (5), the first electric motor (7) and the second electric motor (8) to realize the collection and analysis of light current data and to feed back and control the rotation states of the first electric motor (7) and the second electric motor (8). The first rotary table (2) and the second rotary table (3) are of hollow structures. A positioning device for fixing a first wave plate (9) is provided in the hollow structure of the first rotary table (2), and a positioning device for fixing a second wave plate (10) is provided in the hollow structure of the second rotary table (3). The adjustment device has a high measurement accuracy for the verticality of a fast axis of a compound wave plate, a rapid measurement speed, and is simple and practicable.
