abstract | The present invention provides: a medical device which exhibits excellent lubricity under harsh conditions; and a method for producing this medical device. A medical device according to the present invention is a medical device which is obtained by forming a resin coating layer that contains a maleic acid polymer substance on the surface of a base, and which is to be inserted into a living body. The resin coating layer is formed by having the maleic acid polymer substance covalently bonded to reactive functional groups that are present at least in the surface of the base that constitutes the medical device. With respect to the maleic acid polymer substance, the ratio of the peak height of a carboxylic acid salt therein relative to the total peak height of a carboxylic acid ester and a carboxylic acid therein is 1.2-1.7 as determined by infrared spectroscopy (by an IR method). |
