abstract |
The present invention provides a protein complex obtained from: a protein with a β-ketoacyl-acyl carrier protein synthase domain, a malonyl-CoA:acyl carrier protein acyl transferase domain, and an acyl carrier protein (called ACP below) domain; a protein with a ketoreductase domain; a protein with a β-ketoacyl-ACP synthase domain, a chain elongation factor domain, an acyl transferase domain, and a FabA-like β-hydroxyacyl-ACP dehydratase domain; a protein with an enoyl ACP-reductase domain; and a protein with a phosphopantetheine transferase domain. The protein complex has ARA-producing activity that uses acetyl CoA as a starting substrate. Also provided are: DNA coding for the proteins configuring said protein complex; an organism in which the activity of said protein complex is increased compared to the host organism; and a method using said organism for efficiently manufacturing an ARA-containing composition that does not contain EPA or other PUFAs that include EPA. |
