abstract The invention pertains to the field of animal traps optionally provided with poisonous bait, the trap comprising an essentially parallelepipedal body (1) comprising various inner compartments, including a compartment with an inclined base (2) for storing an amount of optionally poisonous bait that slides under the force of gravity, passing through an opening (3) in a baffle plate (4) and stopping in another compartment (5) defined by a low barrier (6). Another compartment (7) is provided next to these compartments for storing a particulate substance (8) especially designed to adhere to the body of a rat (9) and be subsequently licked by the rat, the trap body (1) having entrance openings (10) and exit openings (11) mainly formed by cylindrical tubes of special diameter that prevents the access of domestic animals, the trap body (1) being provided with a sliding lid (12).
