abstract The purpose of the present invention is to suppress separation of metal lithium on a negative electrode surface, during charging of a battery in low temperature conditions. The present invention is a secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and a non-aqueous electrolyte and having an insulating layer formed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The non-aqueous electrolyte is characterized by containing an annular sulfate ester compound having a prescribed structure or a tubular disulfonic acid ester compound having a prescribed structure.
