The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing a composite material, for a part of given shape and to a part obtained with such a process. A mixture of natural organic fibres is prepared, is pasteurised, is seeded with mycelium, the mixture thus seeded is incubated for a given period of time in order to form a mycelial substrate comprising per 100 parts by weight of substrate, between 2 parts and 60 parts by weight of dry mycelium and between 10 parts and 30 parts by weight of water, and the mycelial substrate is compressed by heating it at a given temperature greater than or equal to the temperature sufficient to render the mycelium of the substrate inert and so that a viscous material is produced that impregnates and binds the substrate, the whole assembly forming, after cooling and drying, the material. |
