The purpose of the present invention is to provide a fluoropolymer production method which, in the production of fluoropolymers, specifically fluoropolymers necessarily containing tetrafluoroethylene or chlorotrifluoroethylene units, is capable of a higher polymerization rate for more efficient production, improves moldability of the extrusion molding, and can suppress coloration. This fluoropolymer production method is characterized by involving a step for obtaining fluoropolymers by polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene or chlorotrifluoroethylene in the presence of peroxydicarbonate represented by this general formula:nR-O-C(=O)-O-O-C(=O)-O-Rn(in the formula, the R's represent an alkyl group or alkoxyalkyl group of 4 carbon atoms and can be the same or different). |
