abstract Provided are aromatic particles and toilet sand for animals, said particles and sand exhibiting good aroma-releasing properties and being capable of effectively suppressing bad odors. Particles for use in toilet sand for animals which includes a plurality of particles are provided with a water-absorbent core, a waterproof coating layer that is formed on the surface of the core from a waterproof material having a lower water absorbency than the core, and an aromatic substance layer that includes an aromatic substance and is formed on the surface of the waterproof coating layer. It is preferable for the aromatic substance layer to further include a dispersant capable of dispersing the aromatic substance in water.
