titleOfInvention Extra-articular implantable mechanical energy absorbing assemblies and methods
abstract Implantable assemblies/devices and methods for manipulating energy transferred by members defining an anatomical joint, wherein the members collectively define a path of motion. Assemblies/devices are provided with a first component configured to be attached to a first member of the anatomical joint, a second component configured to be attached to a second member of the anatomical joint; and a hydraulic member joining the first and second components. The hydraulic member is placed under compression to absorb energy transferred by the members when the first component is attached to the first member and the second component is attached to the second member and a distance between locations of attachment of the first and second components becomes smaller then a predefined distance between the locations.
