abstract | The invention relates to a water-absorbing polymer and to a method for the production thereof, comprising the method steps: (i) blending (α1) between 0.1 and 99.999 wt. %, preferably between 20 and 98.99 wt. % and especially preferably between 30 and 98.95 wt. % polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomers or the salts thereof, said monomers containing acid salts, or polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated monomers containing a protonated or quaternized nitrogen, or blends thereof, with blends having at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer which contains acid groups, preferably acrylic acid, being especially preferred; (α2) between 0 and 70 wt. %, preferably between 1 and 60 wt. % and especially preferably between 1 and 40 wt. % polymerized, ethylenically unsaturated monomers which can be copolymerized with the blends in (α1); (α3) between 0.001 and 10 wt. %, preferably between 0.01 and 7 wt. % and especially preferably between 0.05 and 5 wt. % one or more cross-linking agents; (α4) between 0 and 30 wt. %, preferably between 1 and 20 wt. % and especially preferably between 5 and 10 wt. % water-soluble polymers; (α5) between 0 and 20 wt. %, preferably between 2.5 and 15 wt. % and especially preferably between 5 and 10 wt. % water; in addition to (α6) between 0 and 20 wt. %, preferably between 0 and 10 wt. % and especially preferably between 0.1 and 8 wt. % one or more auxiliary agents, the total weight percentages (α1) to (α6) adding up to 100 wt. %; (ii) radical polymerization with cross-linking in order to form a water-insoluble, aqueous, untreated hydrogel-polymer; (iii) drying the hydrogel-polymer; (iv) milling and screening the water-absorbing polymer; (v) surface cross-linking the milled and screened hydrogel-polymer; and (vi) drying and making-up the water-absorbing polymer. Preferably between 0.07 and 7 wt. %, in relation to the acrylic acid, of a salt of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid, selected from the group comprising α,β-di-unsaturated carboxylic acids, is added to the water-absorbing polymer and said polymer is treated with between 0.00001 and 5 wt. %, preferably between 0.002 and 4 wt. % and especially preferably between 0.007 and 3.5 wt. %, in relation to the acrylic acid, of a colour-stabilizing agent after polymerization. The invention also relates to a method for producing a hydrogel-polymer, to the product of said method and to the use of said polymer. |
