abstract The present invention provides a highly reliable method for selecting a dopant. This method for selecting a dopant by varying the Seebeck coefficient of a carbon nanotube comprises a step of selecting substance (a) or (b), where (a) is a Lewis acid containing an element from Group 13 or 15 of the periodic table, and having the molecular structure of a π-electron-conjugated system, and (b) is a Lewis base containing an element from Group 15 of the periodic table, and having a π-electron-conjugated molecular structure.
