Microencapsulated materials and methods for manufacture are provided which may be suitable for animals, including ruminant animals, while providing acceptable enteric delivery properties. Functional ingredients, such as essential oils, pharmaceuticals, vitamins, minerals and the like is microencapsulated into an enteric matrix and/or enteric microcapsules. Further, a coating of an enteric material is applied. The microencapsulated materials is also coated with a coating that has a solubility less than about 20% at a pH of about 5.5 or greater. The functional ingredient may also be infused into a feed material and coated for delivery to an animal. |
