abstract The invention provides a lighting device comprising (i) a source of light for generating light source light having a spectral distribution with a maximum intensity at a first wavelength (λ1) within the visible wavelength range, (ii) a light converter comprising an organic luminescent material, wherein the light converter is transmissive for at least part of the light source light, wherein the organic luminescent material is configured to provide upon excitation with the light source light luminescent material light having a wavelength within the visible wavelength range, wherein the organic luminescent material has an excitation spectrum having a maximum excitation intensity at a second wavelength (λ2), and wherein λ1≠λ2.
