titleOfInvention | Method for selectively removing catalyser components from effluents of oxidation reactions of aromatic compounds, installation suitable therefor and use thereof |
abstract | Disclosed is a method for purifying effluents, which contain catalyser residues, from installations for producing carbocyclically aromatic mono- or polycarboxylic acids or heterocyclically aromatic mono- or polycarboxylic acids by oxidating precursors of said mono- or polycarboxylic acids, which contain alkyl-, hydroxyalkyl-, alkoxyalkyl-, aldehyde- and/or carboxylic acid ester groups, in the presence of catalysers which contain heavy metal cations. The method is characterised in that at least one effluent from the oxidation process is brought into contact with a chelating ion exchanger that removes selected heavy metal cations selectively from the effluent such that the catalyser components can be recycled into the process, thus reducing the need for fresh catalyser. The method allows for the very efficient removal of toxic and/or expensive heavy metal cations from the effluent. |
