abstract The invention relates to a method for producing a removable dental appliance based on a design plan, wherein a three-dimensional digital model of the actual position of the teeth of a jaw is created, three-dimensional digital models of retaining elements (24) are provided for at least some components (14, 16, 18, 20) of the appliance, the digital data of the three-dimensional models of the retaining element (24) are combined with the digital data of the three-dimensional digital models of the actual position of the teeth to obtain a common three-dimensional digital overall model (26), a three-dimensional real model (30) of the actual position of the teeth is produced on the basis of the three-dimensional digital overall model (26), the components (14, 16, 18, 20) of the appliance are attached to the real model (30) with the aid of the retaining element (24) formed during the production of the real model (30), the components (14, 16, 18, 20) are connected to the appliance, and the appliance produced in this manner is removed from the real model (30). In a method for producing a removable dental appliance that comprises a plurality of components (14, 16, 18, 20) based on a predefined design plan for the appliance, a three-dimensional digital model of the actual position of the teeth of a jaw is created, three-dimensional digital models of retaining elements (24) are provided for at least some components (14, 16, 18, 20) of the appliance, the digital data of the three-dimensional models of the retaining element (24) are combined with the digital data of the three-dimensional digital models of the actual position of the teeth to obtain a common three-dimensional digital overall model (26), a three-dimensional real model (30) of the actual position of the teeth is produced on the basis of the three-dimensional digital overall model (26), the components (14, 16, 18, 20) of the removable dental appliance are attached to the real model (30) with the aid of the retaining element (24) formed during the production of the real model (30), the components (14, 16, 18, 20) are connected to the removable dental appliance, and the removable dental appliance produced in this manner is removed from the real model (30).
