abstract This disclosure describes various methods and techniques for decoded picture buffer (DPB) management when multiple decoded layer components with different resolutions need to be stored. In one example, a method of coding video data comprises decoding video data to produce a plurality of decoded layer components, storing the decoded layer components in one or more sub-units of a DPB, and performing a DPB management process on the one or more sub-units, wherein the DPB management process is managed separately for each of the one or more sub-units.
