Cutting tool |
abstract |
Provided is a more durable wood or resin cutting tool. The wood or resin cutting tool is configured with steel or a superhard alloy as the base metal and a coating is formed on the rake face and/or the flank. The coating is provided with a periodic structural layer obtained from a chromium oxynitride, wherein high oxygen regions in which the oxygen concentration in the structure is high and low oxygen regions in which the oxygen concentration in the structure is lower than said high oxygen regions are manifested in a periodic pattern in the thickness direction of the coating. The periodic structural layer is formed so that the nitrogen concentration increases and decreases in a periodic pattern in the thickness direction to coordinate with the high oxygen regions and the low oxygen regions. |
