An organic electroluminescent element (1) has an anode (3), a cathode (4), and one or more organic layers (10) including at least a light-emitting layer (5) positioned between the anode (3) and the cathode (4). The light-emitting layer (5) is characterized by containing a dopant material represented by general formula (1). In general formula (1), X 1 to X 5 each independently represent CR 1 or a nitrogen atom, and at least one of X 1 and X 5 is a nitrogen atom; L 1 represents a divalent an aromatic hydrocarbon group or a divalent heterocyclic group; A and B each independently represent a ring structure, and the ring structure (A) and/or the ring structure (B) has a substituent; and R 1 is an aryl group, an alkyl group, or the like. |
