abstract Provided is a useful antiseptic that inhibits or prevents dimensional change in a lens and in which compatibility with an ionic contact lens is further enhanced while antiseptic effect by polylysine is advantageously ensured. An antiseptic for an ionic soft contact lens containing polylysine as an antiseptic, furthermore containing at least one or more of the following in a solution for a contact lens that does not contain polyphosphoric acid or a salt thereof as an adsorption-inhibiting substance: (A) an aqueous polymer having a pyrrolidone backbone; (B) a C 5 -C 8 polyalcohol having two or three hydroxyl groups; (C) creatinine; and (D) proline.
