titleOfInvention Cleaning method and composition
abstract A method of cleaning a profiled hard surface, e.g. a metal coated with a corrosion-resistant layer such as a zinc silicate primer, is provided. The method comprises the step of contacting the surface with a cleaning composition comprising (a) from 5 to 50% by weight of an anionic surfactant, (b) from 5 to 50% by weight of a first non-ionic surfactant having the general formula, R'-(AO) n -OH wherein R' is C 9 to C 20 alkyl; each AO unit is either -OCH 2 CH 2 - or -OCH 2 CH(CH 3 )- and n is greater than 6 and (c) from 5 to 50% by weight of a second non-ionic surfactant having the general formula, R'-(OCH 2 CH 2 ) n -OH wherein R' is C 9 to C 20 alkyl, and n is less than 6; each of said weight percentages being with respect to the total weight of (a), (b) and (c). The method is especially useful for cleaning the profiled internal surfaces of marine cargo tanks. Corresponding hard surface cleaning compositions are also disclosed in both concentrate and water diluted forms.
