Provided is a method for producing a carbon nanotube array characterized by comprising, as a means to enhance productivity when producing CNT arrays by gas-phase catalysis, and a means to enhance the spinnability of the CNT arrays: a first step for introducing a substrate into an atmosphere containing a gas-phase catalyst, the base surface of the substrate being a surface comprising a material containing an oxide of silicon, and the base surface being provided as at least part of the substrate surface; and a second step for growing a plurality of carbon nanotubes on the base surface of the substrate by introducing raw material gas and a gas-phase co-catalyst into the atmosphere containing a gas-phase catalyst to obtain a carbon nanotube array comprising the plurality of carbon nanotubes on the base surface. |
