Provided are fine pigment particles which form a white pigment having heat shielding effect, and which are capable of improving the service life of a coating film by being applied to the coating film.nFine pigment particles for coating materials, which are formed of an alumina-zirconia eutectic body that contains, as chemical components, 50-95% by mass of Al 2 O 3 , 5-40% by mass of ZrO 2 and 0-10% by mass of SiO 2 with the total of Al 2 O 3 and ZrO 2 being 80% by mass or more, and which have particle diameters D 50 of 0.1-80 μm. The fine pigment particles have high heat shielding effect, while having excellent wear resistance. |
