abstract The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the amount of NOx emitted into the air. In this exhaust gas purification device, the amount of ammonia adsorbed on an SCR catalyst is calculated by subtracting the amount of ammonium nitrate formed on the SCR catalyst from the amount of ammonia adsorbed on the SCR catalyst at starting an internal-combustion engine. In a case where the NOx purification efficiency estimated from the calculated amount of ammonia adsorbed on the SCR catalyst is lower than a threshold, the amount of NO 2 flowing into the SCR catalyst is adjusted to a level lower than that set in a case where the purification efficiency is equal to or higher than the threshold.
