abstract Compositions that mitigate damage caused by environmental stressors are provided. The stressors include, but are not limited to, damage caused by ultra-violet radiation. The compositions comprise an effective amount of idebenone or a derivative thereof, N-acetyl-S-farnesyl-L-cysteine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof and ergothioneine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof. In some embodiments these compositions are applied topically to a person's skin.
