abstract | A composition comprising an ABI3 gene of the present invention and a method for delaying the flowering of plants using the composition have a strong effect on delaying the flowering of plants. In the previously known method for delaying the flowering of plants, since flowering is delayed by silencing the expression of a gene for promoting flowering, it is difficult to control the degree of delay in flowering. Also, since a gene silencing method such as RNAi is used, it is not easy to produce an actual transgenic plant and thus it is difficult to use for industry. However, the ABI3 gene of the present invention acts in a manner which delays flowering when expression increases, and thus it is easy to control the degree of delay in flowering and to produce a transgenic plant. Thus, it is expected that the present invention can be effectively applied to increase the productivity of crops by delaying flowering time or blocking flowering in plants of which vegetative tissue or leaves are used. |
