abstract |
[Problem] To provide highly efficient methods for producing an alignment material and a retardation material, and to provide an alignment material and a retardation material. [Solution] In order to produce an alignment material including first and second alignment regions wherein the respective directions in which liquid crystal alignment is regulated differ from one another, this production method comprises: a coating-film formation step for forming a coating film by coating a substrate with a cured-film forming composition that includes component (A), which is an acrylic copolymer including a photodimerization moiety and a thermally cross-linking moiety, and component (B), which is a cross-linking agent; a heating step for forming a cured film by heating the coating film; and a polarized-light exposure step for simultaneously irradiating, with different light exposure doses, a first region in the cured film for forming the first alignment region and a second region for forming the second alignment region with polarized light having the same polarization direction. A retardation material is produced by using the produced alignment material. |
