abstract In one embodiment, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment (20A) is provided with a data collection system (22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48), a charging and discharging element (BAT), and power control units (52, 309). The data collection system collects nuclear magnetic resonance signals from an imaging region resulting from the execution of a scan. The charging and discharging element is part of the power system (304, 308a, 52, BD, BAU) of the MRI equipment, and is charged by external power. The power control units control the power system in such a manner that power is supplied from the charging and discharging element to at least one unit other than the data collection system in the MRI equipment.
