The invention relates to a polarization grating for diffractive light deflection, comprising at least one liquid crystal layer on a substrate, wherein the liquid crystal molecules have a periodic change in the orientation of the liquid crystal molecules. The invention further relates to a light deflection device and a method for deflecting light. The aim of the invention is to specify a polarization grating for an oblique incidence angle of the light, in particular having high diffraction efficiency for the +1st order for a specifiable or variable incidence angle in a wide range of incidence angles. Said aim is achieved by a polarization grating in which at least one additional orientation change of the liquid crystal molecules is or can be set in such a way that light of a specified polarization having a specifiable or controllable angle of incidence experiences a specifiable phase retardation upon passing through the liquid crystal layer, and by means of a light deflection device having such a polarization grating and a method for deflecting light by means of such a polarization grating. |
