abstract The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating Parkinson's disease, containing N-terminal truncated ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1 (NT-UCH-L1) as an active ingredient. Specifically, it is ascertained that NT-UCH-L1 in which 11 amino acids are removed from the N-terminal of UCH-L1 is placed in mitochondria, thereby playing an important role in the regulation of stress inducing active oxygen species and mitochondrial damage, and thus NT-UCH-L1 can be used as an active ingredient of a composition for preventing and treating Parkinson's disease.
