abstract The present invention provides an illumination device for cultivating plants, the illumination device comprising a means for altering light of any wavelength band 300 to 600 nm (for example, wavelengths 452 to 474 nm) to light of the aforementioned wavelength band predominantly including a right-circularly polarized light component. This illumination device makes it possible to irradiate with light by which specific effects can be imparted in the cultivation of plants in particular.
