The present invention provides triphenylene derivatives of formula (I) or formula (II) as the component of liquid crystal medium and the use thereof. The compounds can form a negative discotic liquid crystal composition, which exhibit suitable liquid crystal phase temperature and lower clearing point, and can be applied to the TFT liquid crystal display as an optical compensation film (box) material. |
