abstract | The present invention relates to the development of Nano crystalline heterogeneous solid base catalyst comprising alkali and/or alkaline earth metal oxide and/or of mixture thereof by self-propagating liquid combustion synthesis method wherein said catalyst composition possesses high catalytic activity. The particle size obtained is in the range of 10-20 nm. Nano crystalline nature increases catalytic activity of the said catalyst and catalyst has application in condensation and Trans esterification reactions. The process for the preparation comprises of various steps where dissolving, evaporation, combustion and calcination are the important steps. Process for manufacture of 4-(alkyl/aryl)-oxy 1, 3-dioxolane-2-one with catalyst comprises steps of. a. Reacting 3-(alkyl or aryl)-oxy-1, 2-alkanediols with dimethyl carbonate in the presence of said combustion synthesized catalyst with or without catalyst. b. Seperation of pure 4-(alkyl/aryl)-oxy 1, 3-dioxolane-2-one from final reaction mixture. Process for manufacture of 2-oxazolidinone with catalyst comprises steps of. c. Reacting substituted/un-substituted 2-aminoalcohols with formulae as in fig.2 and alkylene carbonate in the presence of said combustion synthesized catalyst with or without catalyst. d. Separation of pure 2-oxazolidinone from final reaction mixture. |
