abstract The present invention provides a growth-promoting composition enabling favorable promotion of the growth of microbes belonging to the Bifidobacterium genus, which inhabit the intestines of mammals such as humans. According to the present invention, containing one or more species selected from the group consisting of lacto-N-tetraose, lacto-N-neotetraose, and derivatives thereof makes it possible to provide a composition for promoting growth of microbes belonging to the Bifidobacterium genus. The growth-promoting composition is suitable for promoting the growth of the enteral microbes by oral administration, especially in adult humans.
