abstract A method of treating glaucoma in an eye is provided utilizing an implanted shunt having an pliable plate, a drainage tube, and an elastic band placed over the drainage tube to regulate the flow of fluid from the eye. Pliable plate is positioned over a sclera of the eye with an outflow end of the drainage tube open to an outer surface of pliable plate. An inflow end of the drainage tube tunnels through the sclera and cornea to the anterior chamber of the eye. The elastic band predictably restricts and regulates outflow from the eye until a scar tissue bleb forms around pliable plate of the shunt.
