The present invention relates to a method and a system for long-term monitoring of arterial vascular stiffness and vascular calcification in a specific patient, wherein a parameter for arterial vascular stiffness is determined exclusively from the form or the progression of at least one pressure pulse wave caused by heart contraction as a function of time and is stored as a time series for the specific patient. In particularly preferred embodiments the parameter is represented as a trend and serves the doctor as a basis for long-term monitoring of arterial vascular stiffness. |
