abstract The present invention relates to a drive mechanism of a drug delivery device, comprising: - a piston rod (24) to operably engage with a piston (20) of a cartridge (18) containing a medicament - a first functional component (24,58) and a second functional component (16, 6) whose position or orientation relative to each other is unambiguously correlated to a predefined axial position of the piston rod (24), - wherein the first and/or the second functional component (24,58,16,56) comprise at least one engaging portion (40,42) to inseparably and to adhesively engage the first and the second functional component (24,58,16,56) with each other for rendering the drive mechanism inoperable when the predefined axial position of the piston rod (24) has been reached.
