The present invention provides an oxynitride phosphor having a fluorescence peak wavelength of 580-605 nm, which has higher external quantum efficiency than conventional oxynitride phosphors. An oxynitride phosphor powder of the present invention is an oxynitride phosphor which is represented by composition formula:nCa x1 Eu x2 Si 12-(y+z) Al (y+z) O z N 16-z n(wherein x1, x2, y and z satisfy 0 < x1 ≤ 2.50, 0.01 ≤ x2 ≤ 0.20, 0 < y ≤ 2.3 and 1.5 ≤ z ≤ 3.5, or alternatively, x1, x2, y and z satisfy 0 < x1 ≤ 2.70, 0.05 ≤ x2 ≤ 0.20, 2.3 ≤ y ≤ 5.5 and 1 ≤ z ≤ 2.5), and which contains an α-sialon and aluminum nitride. The present invention also provides a method for producing the oxynitride phosphor. |
