titleOfInvention Piezoelectric ceramic, piezoelectric element, and method for manufacturing piezoelectric ceramic
abstract [Problem] To provide a piezoelectric ceramic having low hysteresis in an output charge output from the piezoelectric ceramic when a load is applied.n[Solution] Provided is a piezoelectric ceramic (20) that is characterized by having a pair of main surfaces (2a and 2b) parallel with each other and positioned on facing sides of a base body (21) and a side surface (4) that is connected to peripheral edges (3a and 3b) of the main surfaces (2a and 2b), respectively, and by the main component being a layered compound the composition of which is represented by Bi 4 Ti 3 O 12 ·α MTiO 3 . In the compositional formula, M is either or both of Sr and Ba and also satisfies 0.1 ≤ α ≤ 1. The piezoelectric ceramic (20) is further characterized by a base body (21) having an outside region (22) that includes regions (4A and 4B) in the proximity of the side surface (4) and the pair of main surfaces (2a and 2b), respectively, and an inside region (24) that is surrounded by the outside region (22), and by the peak width at half height (W A ) for a peak in the range of 22.8 - 23.5° for angle of diffraction (2θ) in x-ray diffraction using a Cu-Kα beam for the outside region (22) with respect to the side surface (4) being smaller than the peak width at half height (W B ) in a range of 22.8 - 23.5° for the angle of diffraction (2θ) in x-ray diffraction using a Cu-Kα beam for each of the main surfaces (2a and 2b) for the inside region (24).
