abstract Provided are a liquid crystal composition and application thereof. The liquid crystal composition comprises: 1-50 wt.% a compound shown by general formula (I), 5-60 wt.% a compound shown by general formula (II), 1-60 wt.% a compound shown by general formula (III), and 0-50 wt.% a compound shown by general formula (IV). The liquid crystal composition has suitably high dielectric anisotropy, wide nematic phase range and suitable optical anisotropy. It can be used for outdoor operation with good image displaying effect and no image tail; the low temperature of the nematic phase can reach -30℃, and the requirement of low-temperature operation can be met; under low temperature, storing for over 500 hours fundamentally has no influence on the performance; and the change of voltage over temperature is low, and its response is quick at low temperature. Also, provided is a liquid crystal display comprising the liquid crystal composition.
